| During
a business trip to Victoria, I was given the opportunity
to travel back to Vancouver in a Sikorsky S76A
helicopter. Picture Trump's Helicopter minus it
being all pimped out. At first I thought nothing
of it but as I began to lift off and fly over
the water, I thought to myself this is truly the
only way to fly.
As I travel over Victoria, I came
to the realization that you see more of the world
below you than if you were to travel over the
same piece of land in a 747. It's not every day
you see how large our farm lands are. Or how big
Richmond and Vancouver really is. I went through
a few emotions while I was traveling over the
Lower Mainland. It was amazing to see how blue
the water is but quite sad to see how murky it
was the closer to land we came. Just to see the
drastic change from blue to brown when we reached
Richmond was unbelievable. From Richmond, we went
around YVR. You really don't get the opportunity
to see what YVR looks like from a plane. You don't
get to see how small it really is. From there
we travel over Vancouver and around the UBC Endowment
lands. Again from the ground UBC seem so big yet
the surrounded area is so small. That is further
from the truth. From above you can see how small
the campus is in relations to forest surrounding
it. I never imagine how much trees we had in that
area. Onwards we travelled towards Stanley Park
before we landed at the Downtown harbour.
Absolutely amazing. An incredible
ride. Not quite as fast as a plane but why bother
with the long strip of land require for take off
when you could just lift off the ground. Definitely
a lot safer and more fun. I would taking flying
in a helicopter over an airplane any day. |
