A new fad or a glimpse to the future of our children. Lately, I have been noticing that kids are wearing these new shoes with a wheel on the bottom of the heels. I would see these children skating along the street on their heels. They would either be skating down the streets with a couple of steps in between or be pulled along by a parent. When seeing this, I question if this is the future for our children. A beginning to another generation of laziness and possibly obesity where walking from point A to point B is a thing of the past.

It frightens me because even today, I see my friends, my generation, deteriorate to a form of laziness that prevents them from even walking a few blocks. This shocks me because their first thought would be to get into a car and drive a short distance rather than walk. These kids with these new type of shoes don't even have to take the time to pick up their feet. Instead, they are rolling along relying on their parents to drag them from place to place. I hope this is just a fad and not a look to things to come.

So if you are a parent, please don't fall into the trap of purchasing your child these new fangle, yes I just used to the word fangle, shoes. And implore everyone else to try walking to your next destination if not for your health, the environment or to save a few bucks on gas but understand that some of us don't have that luxury.
